Matt Karol is a venture investor, producer, and lawyer with a decade-long track record investing in early-stage consumer, technology, media, and entertainment-adjacent platforms.
He graduated from McGill University Faculty of Law at age 22 and began his career at Stikeman Elliott, widely regarded as Canada's leading corporate law firm, where he worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions group advising on complex, cross-border transactions.
Since 2015, he has helped allocate capital into more than 40 venture-backed companies, typically at seed through early Series A, with a strong emphasis on asymmetric risk-reward, valuation discipline, and founder quality. The portfolio includes multiple exits and companies that have grown to valuations exceeding $1B.
In parallel with venture investing, Matt is deeply involved in media and entertainment as a producer and financier, providing a differentiated perspective on consumer behavior, creator economics, distribution, and IP-driven platforms. Current projects include films and series with talent such as Tyrese Gibson, Billy Zane, Asa Butterfield, Jaeden Martell, and Noah Centineo.
He also serves as an advisor to a number of early-stage companies across biotech, Web3, consumer, and infrastructure, supporting capital strategy, investor positioning, governance, and commercial partnerships.
